Campus Sustainability Initiatives, is a student group within IDS that focuses on making UBC Okanagan campus more sustainable through awareness campaigns and projects.
Our goals are to promote multidisciplinary collaboration between all faculties to improve knowledge and awareness on campus of holistic sustainability (Environmental, Social, and Economic).
Build a close community of passionate individuals through social events, collaborative projects, and campus engagement.
01
Last year under CWI we launched a project to redesign waste signage on campus to make it more environmentally and user friendly.
02
We changed some of the titles of different bins to make it more familiar to new students and used real images of everyday objects versus outlines to make it more clear where items go.
03
Our new designs were put up on some campus buildings with very positive reviews from the student body and campus administration.
04
CSI changed its name from Campus Waste Initiatives (CWI) this year to broaden our focus from waste management to sustainability more generally although we are still doing work on waste management.
